How ‘My Mosque Story’ aims to help Muslim women around the UK become closer to their faith.
13 Mar 2022My Mosque Story is on a mission to help Muslim women around the UK who love God to seek a deeper connection with Him. Initially set up to provide women with a digital space to share their experiences of attending and engaging with mosques in the UK, the organisation quickly realised that Muslim women wanted access to scholars, to understand their position in their faith and to know their God given rights.
As a result, My Mosque Story expanded its purpose and is now on a mission to help Muslim women who love God to be able to seek a deeper connection with Him.
The initiative runs a range of campaigns at this moment. The #ScholarlyWorks campaign aims to bring authentic narrations and scholarly insights from some renowned teachers and thinkers who show what Islam really says about women accessing mosques and spaces of knowledge. A key aim of this campaign is to debunk common myths about women in Islam, as well as shed some light on authentic narrations and sources around this topic. Most recently, My Mosque Story has been working alongside Shaykha Tamara Gray, the founder of Rabata.
In Ramadan last year, with a range of Mosques closed to women, the team developed a campaign to help Muslim women participate in congregational taraweeh prayers. Working with Amaliah, a list of mosques open for women was created. Alongside this, My Mosque Story developed The Tadabbur Series, a campaign led by female scholars to help Muslim women develop their relationship with the Quran and recreate a communal space that many women were missing.
My Mosque Story runs a range of campaigns to help Muslim women develop their faith with God, to understand their position in Islam and to ensure that the worship of Muslim women is prioritised and granted the same importance as the worship of Muslim men.
